Dr. Nicole Gentile completed her internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic. After that, she completed her fellowship at the University of Chicago NorthShore. During her time at the Mayo Clinic, she developed a strong interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and began her research in microscopic colitis. This experience, in turn, laid the foundation for her clinical passion and specialty.
Today, Dr. Gentile is dedicated to evidence-based medicine and education. Additionally, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Moreover, she is also the Research Director for the internal medicine residency program at Mercy Health. In both roles, she actively mentors future physicians and promotes research excellence.
Her clinical focus includes Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Microscopic Colitis, and women’s digestive health. In addition, she provides comprehensive care in general gastroenterology.
In clinical practice, Dr. Nicole Gentile believes the most rewarding part of her work is listening to her patients. To achieve this, she takes the time to understand their stories and guide them through diagnosis and treatment. As a specialist in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), she prioritizes building long-term relationships with her patients.
