Dr. Rockford Yapp is passionate about truly understanding his patients and communicating clearly with them. He believes that strong doctor-patient relationships lead to better outcomes. Therefore, he works closely with each patient to ensure they receive the most advanced and effective treatments available. At the same time, he provides compassionate care to help them manage the challenges that often come with digestive diseases.
He earned his medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his training, he gained hands-on experience at several renowned institutions, including Cornell University, Cook County Hospital, Shiprock Northern Navajo Medical Center in New Mexico, and a medical center in Nairobi, Kenya. He completed his internal medicine residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. Afterward, he advanced his expertise in Gastroenterology and Hepatology through fellowships at Yale University.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Yapp also holds a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on medical research. He is board-certified in Gastroenterology, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and ongoing professional development.
Although Dr. Yapp treats a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, he has a strong interest in several key areas. These include colon cancer screening, liver disease, hepatology, advanced endoscopy, complex esophageal disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and both GI and liver cancers. His combination of expertise, empathy, and dedication allows him to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care in all these areas.
