Dr. Ajay Bajaj is a board-certified gastroenterologist who is currently accepting new patients. He holds certifications in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. In recognition of his clinical expertise, he is also a fellow of two prestigious organizations: the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
With years of experience, Dr. Bajaj is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. He routinely performs key procedures such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). These procedures diagnose and manage complex conditions of the digestive tract. He also treats disorders related to the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. Notably, he has a special clinical interest in hepatobiliary diseases, which affect the liver and bile system.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Bajaj is a strong believer in lifelong learning and professional growth. To stay current with the latest advances in gastrointestinal care, he recently completed specialized training in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), a highly advanced procedure used to remove early-stage tumors from the digestive tract with precision.
In addition to treating patients, Dr. Ajay Bajaj is passionate about medical education. He serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at both the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University. Through his teaching roles, he mentors medical students and residents, helping train the next generation of physicians.
His approach to patient care is both compassionate and personalized. He believes in treating each patient as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms, following the biopsychosocial model of medicine, which considers biological, psychological, and social factors in health. Dr. Ajay Bajaj has been in practice since 1993. Over the years, he has built a reputation for excellence, empathy, and dedication.
Outside of his medical career, Dr. Ajay Bajaj enjoys a well-balanced personal life. He loves traveling, staying active with core fitness routines, and spending quality time with his wife and two children. Both of his children have followed in his footsteps and pursued careers in medicine, inspired by his dedication and example.
